Hard-learned lessons

Tips for the road

01
Book winery tastings early
Two weeks minimum for seated or library experiences. The good ones don't do walk-ins.
02
Stay outside the obvious town
Healdsburg over Napa. Dundee over McMinnville. Quieter, better positioned, half the price.
03
Designate a driver for winery days
The pours add up fast and the roads are narrow. Worth hiring a car service for a full day.
04
Eat lunch at the good restaurant
Same kitchen, half the price, easier reservation. The French Laundry does a lunch service too.
Stay in the loop
